National Policy on Education, 2020: An Overview

The National Policy on Education (NPE) is a policy formulated by the Government of India to promote education amongst the people of India. The policy covers elementary as well as college level education in both rural and urban India. The first NPE was promulgated by the Government of India by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1968, the second by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1986, and the third and the most recent one by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020. The New Education Policy, 2020- A Brief Outlook

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY, 2020- AN INTRODUCTION The National Education Policy, 2020 approved by the union cabinet and passed on July 29 brings in a big change in the curriculum followed by the students from the beginning years of their schooling after 34 years of gap in the sense that it allows children to take up education from age 3 that gives a strong base of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)[1]. The new NEP, approved by the cabinet is not a law and thus has not been present before the parliament.
